In honor of the summer months ahead, and "Midsummer" I have finally finished my little wind chime fairy.
$Moonbeam13 encourages the Gallery Directors not to forget we are also artists, as such, about a month ago she was encouraging us to create, I started this. I was afraid my muse had packed up and left town since I seem to start so many things and I don't have the extra imagination to finish it. I feel better now that this is done and I have seen this vision through.

In my backyard I have at least 5 sets of wind chimes, I love chimes one night a while back I was sitting in my yard watching this very set of chimes move back and forth without the wind blowing. It made me think that perhaps in a different reality or parallel realm there are fairies swinging from them. For over a month I thought about how I would put this on canvas to show my idea and vision.
I took a photo of the chimes in a different part of my yard from where they normally are, thanks to my friend Andrew who held the chimes, and used that as a base for the background, I repainted everything, my backyard leaves are not nearly as intricate or pretty! lol
I rendered out a fairy using Poser 7 (which is a 3D program) using V4 and then repainted most of her.
Roughly 35-40 hours from start to finish. 75% hand painted, the rest is a 3D render and the base was a photo - but you can't see any more of the photo its completely covered with my paint work.
Thanks for looking, enjoy!
faint blurry bits of foliage at the bottom were made using 1 of ~rebelkitty's foliage brushes
That is absolutely gorgeous. When I was little, we had a set of chimes hanging by our front door, they were enclosed and sheltered but always moved. Even when there wasn't a trace of wind about. I always imagines fairies playing with them and this just brings my fantasy to life. The composition is so pretty and simple and the leaves that are in focus are gorgeous. The little fairy is just so sweet.
